KLIA Transfer Cost Calculator

Getting from KL city centre to KLIA (or KLIA2 — note: two different terminals) involves five real options and the answer depends heavily on hour, group size and how much luggage you have. This tool computes all five side by side.

What this solves

Every travel guide defaults to "take the KLIA Ekspres" without checking the actual situation. Reality: at 4am with four people and luggage, a Grab Premier XL is roughly the same price as four Ekspres tickets — and door-to-door faster. At midnight during monsoon flooding, the Ekspres doesn't run and your only real option is taxi.

Also: KLIA and KLIA2 are different terminals, not the same airport. The Ekspres terminus is different, the surcharge is different, and the Grab pickup lanes are different.

FAQ

Can I pay Grab with cash?

Cash option was added in 2024 but is rare to find a driver who'll accept it. Credit card or TnG eWallet is more reliable.

Does the Ekspres run 24 hours?

No. Last train is around 1am from KL Sentral, first around 5am. Outside that, only taxi/Grab.

Skybus vs Ekspres?

Skybus is cheaper (RM12-15) but stops at multiple hotels and takes 75+ minutes. Ekspres is non-stop, 33 minutes, RM55. Skybus makes sense only if you're staying at a covered hotel and have lots of time.
